In Keith’s right hand was a washed up lunch tray we found on this beach in remote Russia. He had just broken his board and the waves were so good that he grabbed the closest thing he could find, in this case a piece of trash, and surfed it. As I followed him in the water there was an ear to ear grin because we were having so much fun , regardless of the craft ridden. In most if not all of the remote places I’ve been there has always been an abundance of two things ... waves and trash. There’s rare moments where you find anything you can re-use. This was one of them. We kept the tray. ♻️ @thetorpedopeople

For the last few years I’ve photographed these two trees.. one young, one old. Seemingly intermixed, roots most likely intertwined underground. It can be hard to slow down & appreciate this subtle beauty when you a moving fast. @kcdeane in Hokkaido Japan @iwanairesort

My ears hurt so bad when diving from years of “surfers ear”... a bone closure created by prolonged exposure to cold water. 5 years ago I got my hearing checked & they estimated I had about 50% growth... these days who knows. Regardless of the headache inducing pressure, discomfort and impending surgery I can’t help but dive deep to see these unearthly perspectives. Weird how our body will override our minds for an experience. @_ryanhill_

The suggestiveness of a silhouette is what makes it my favorite type of photograph. The who, what, where, when and why seem to become less important as we have less to base our judgements on and can truly appreciate the shape & form of the subject. It forces us to invest more time learning about the image to get answers to those questions. . The viewer is given permission to in some way envision themselves in the picture. That may be perhaps the most powerful aspect of a silhouette. @rannveigaamodt

This month I’ll be heading to Phoenix & Denver to teach photography courses before heading to Iceland in June to do a non stop bike race around the country! Pretty excited for the next few months but also getting those jitters before attempting something huge! . If you are in Phoenix or Denver cruise out and join on of my intensive photography workshops. I dive deep into the most important things I have learned over the last decade from working with magazines & editors to post processing and compositional techniques. 300 Feet.... that is how much we scroll on social media every day! When I heard that statistic I was shocked. I’d always envisioned that the best use of social media was to help foster real genuine experiences. There is so much more we can do with 300ft. I would love to know what you would do? I spent a week in the desert directing a piece for the launch of the @honda Passport that asked this question. For me.. it’s all about changing my perspective on the world around me, it’s the thing that helps me appreciate nature the most. Getting 300ft in the air seemed like the best possible way to spend that screen time. #hondapartner
