Darren Everett Criss, who was born on 5 February 1987, in San Francisco, California, USA, is an American actor, singer, songwriter, composer and musician. He was best known for his role as Blaine Anderson in the television series "Glee" (2010-2015). Criss also appeared in five episodes of the television series "Eastwick" in 2009. In addition to his acting career, Darren Criss promotes himself as a singer. In the summer of 2010, he released a solo album titled "Human".
In January 2012, Criss debuted on Broadway, for three weeks, succeeding Daniel Radcliffe in the lead role of the musical "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying”.
Darren Criss was born on February 5, 1987 in San Francisco County, California, he is the youngest of three children. He has an older brother, Charles Criss, who is a member of the group "Freelance Whales". Criss's mother is from Cebu, Philippines, while his father, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, has English, German and Irish roots. Darren Criss has grown mainly in San Francisco, separately from 1988-1992, when his family lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, where Charles Criss worked in East-West Bank, speaking as chairman and CEO of it.
Criss attended the Catholic school. He completed his primary education at the school "Stuart Hall for Boys” and later he graduated from St. Ignatius College in 2005. In 2009 Criss received a Bachelor of Fine Arts after graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in theatre performance and an elective on musicology and Italian.
Criss’ interest in music began at an early age. At the age of five, he began taking violin lessons and studied it for the next fifteen years. Darren Criss has independently learned to play other instruments, including guitar, piano, mandolin, harmonica and percussion.
In high school, Criss immersed in music - he held the position of concertmaster in the school orchestra, and sang in a group and was recognized as the most likely singer to win the "Grammy". At the age of fifteen, he began to delve into the musical composition and wrote his first song, which he subsequently used as the title track of his first album, released in 2010. In January 2013, Darren Criss performed at a concert for US President Barack Obama. While performing at a charity concert at the state art school on April 14, 2013, Criss was made an honorary member of Yale University with a cappella singing group in Whiffenpoofs. In the first solo tour, Criss visited 17 cities in the US, Canada and France, from May 29 to June 30, 2013.
Darren Criss has also demonstrated a talent in acting. At the age of ten, he was admitted to the American Conservatory Theatre, where he studied theatre arts during his formative years. In St. Ignatius College, he was a member of the theatre arts program and performed in classical plays such as "The Musician", “The Diary of Anne Frank", and "Fiddler on the Roof". He was active as an actor and director at the University of Michigan, the student theatre organization "Basement of the Arts". In 2008, he spent one semester abroad, studying the Italian theatre at the Academy dell'Arte in Arezzo, Italy.
In 2012, the film debut of Darren Criss took place in the comedy "Girl Most Likely". His premiere took place at the Toronto Film Festival on September 7, 2012, after it was released in the world premiere on July 19, 2013. The film also starred Kristen Uig, Annette Bening and Matt Dillon.
Criss began performing on the stage at the age of ten, his first work was the musical "Fanny" (1997), and then he played Mauro in Richard Rogers and Stephen Sondheim musical "Do hear a Waltz?" (1998), and Beauregard Calhoun "Babes in Arms" (1999).

In January 2012, Darren Criss's Broadway debut took place, he replaced Daniel Radcliffe as Jay Finch Pyrrppon in the musical "How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying". It was a huge succes, the play collected more than four million dollars. After Criss took on the role of Hedwig Robinson in the musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", held from April 29, 2015 to July 19, 2015 at the theatre "Belasco". He led the national tour to San Francisco and Los Angeles, from October 2 to November 27, 2016.
In January 2018, Darren Criss announced that he was engaged to Miei Swaer, his girlfriend whom he has been together for seven and a half years.
