I know some of you are experiencing freezing temps on the east coast, but us Californians have had 60’s and sunny all weekend! With any type of cold weather, it’s all about layers, so I like to have my inner and outermost ones selected ahead of time to make choosing my outfits easier. Wearing a dress may seem like a challenge when it’s cold out, but as long as your inner layers fit close to your body, which helps with warmth, you can virtually layer anything over them, including a dress. My go-to under layers are always a turtleneck or heat tech long sleeve, and leggings or jeggings — bonus points if they’re all heat tech. 👌🏼Once you have that simple base on, it’s a an easy outfit formula you can use on cold days as your base, then you can get creative with the rest of your look. 😍 I wore this look last week in LA when the weather was in the low fifties and raining, but I was so warm I could’ve gone without the cape. 😂 More of this look is over on the blog today at GirlWithCurves.com + you can shop my look super quick via the link in my bio. 🤗 #mididresses #modestdresses #girlwithcurves #curvygirlfashion #curvygirlstyle #tuesdayoutfit #styletip

Thank you all so much for your kind, thoughtful comments on my post from yesterday! I read each and every one, and it means so much that you took the time to comment, share your thoughts and your own stories. 🥰 This community motivates and inspires me every single day to keep doing the important work of spreading the message we all needed to hear when we were younger, and one we constantly need to hear today, no matter our age! I’m beyond grateful to be able to share my story with people who truly understand, and in some cases have been there where I was, and are battling the same things today. There is still so much more to my story I haven’t yet shared, but I promise that in time I will find the courage to. What I take away from my work through Girl With Curves more than anything each and every day, is the power of positivity and community. Together we can accomplish anything! And something I’ve noticed time and time again is no matter where we live, how old we are or what size we are, we all share so many similar experiences. So don’t ever be afraid to open up to a stranger if you feel the need to. I truly believe in the power of sharing — it empowers others as well as ourselves! From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for being so kind, supportive and spreading the love! ☺️🤗❤️ Outfit details are linked in my bio — I’m wearing the cape from my Fall 2018 #gwcxlbcollection (now sold out), but the other items are linked. ☺️ #girlwithcurves #curvyconfidence #curvygirlfashion #curvygirlstyle #modestfashionista

I’ve contemplated sharing the image on the left for many years, but when the 10 year challenge recently became a thing, and the majority of conversations across so many pages is focused on WEIGHT + physical appearance, I knew it was time to finally to shine a bright light on something I haven’t had the courage to share. The pic on the left is from 2008, just 3 years before I started Girl With Curves. My eating disorder was at its peak, and although you may see a smiling girl in the image, I see a girl who hated herself and would stop at nothing to achieve what she thought was her “ideal weight,” barely eating, abusing diet pills and exercising obsessively. The dress I’m wearing is a size XS/4 compared the XL/14-16 I wear today. I post these pictures not to trigger sadness, but to show you that we SHOULD be focusing on the WISDOM and MINDSET that comes with age, vs just physical appearance, when we look back at old pictures of ourselves. My journey to body confidence and self-love fuels my entire reason for starting Girl With Curves, to show women you CAN look + feel amazing at any size. 🤗 As someone who’s struggled with self-confidence from a very young age, my hope is that my openness in sharing my experiences helps my fellow curvy girls to realize that YOU ARE ENOUGH!! You’re beautiful exactly as you are, worthy of love and respect, but it starts with the way you love and respect YOURSELF. I’ve had so many moments throughout my almost 8 year career with GWC when I wanted to share this image, but didn’t have the courage to face this piece of myself, in fear that it would trigger past emotions. But today, I have more than enough courage + the confidence to own my truth, and I fully believe that while having an ED is a part of who I am, it does NOT DEFINE ME. So instead of posting a side-by-side #howdidagehityouchallenge #10yearchallenge, I’m starting my own #gwcchallengein hopes that you all will share yours as well, but focus on how your mindset has changed in the past 10 years vs focusing on physical appearance. ❤️ #girlwithcurves #2008vs2018 #tenyearchallenge

This is a word and why I won't discuss weight, diets, etc! It's literally everywhere and you cant escape it and it is so triggering to many. Sending you love. 😘😘

@celestialbeing1.0 ...to you it may be, but not to the woman with an eating disorder. There are so many mindsets to consider. I think we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Even if you’re a serious fashionista, there are some days when you just can’t figure out a practical outfit that makes you look + feel good, am I right?! Personally, whether I’ve just had a bad day, a bad week, or not feeling confident about my body, there are times when I can’t seem to come up with an outfit that’s not only stylish, but also boosts my confidence. 😩 I’ve had many of those days, and as a solution to this issue, I’ve come to rely on a look like this one whenever I need a confidence boost or just strapped for time to figure out an outfit that checks all the boxes. For me, putting on a pretty dress somehow always makes me feel a little happier, and always boosts my confidence. 👌🏼 This dress is a recent @violetabymangofind, and it has all my must-haves! I love the ease of stretch fabric, a flattering A-line silhouette and the timeless wrap detail that accentuates the waist. An outfit like this is my go-to on days when I literally feel as if I have nothing to wear. 😍 I’m wearing my normal size US 14 in the dress, and you can shop my look by clicking the link in my bio! #sponsored #girlwithcurves #iamwhatiam #curvyoutfit #curvygirlstyle #curvygirlfashion #workwearstyle #officeoutfit #modestfashionista

Happy Friday all! Thanks so much for chiming in on my last post and sharing a bit about yourself, I love knowing who’s behind the likes and comments, it’s so nice to meet you all! 🤗 Now let’s talk wardrobe staples! For me, a shirtdress is at the top of the list. Of all the different silhouettes a dress comes in, I find the shirtdress to be the easiest to transition from season to season, and the most versatile. Whether worn on its own or with a turtleneck underneath for some extra coverage like I’ve done here, it’s the perfect one and done wardrobe staple that works for any occasion, from work to weekend. A shirtdress like this one is also an easy DO because it fully unbuttons, so it doubles as a light outer layer, adding even more points to its versatility roster! 🙌🏼 More images of this look are over on the blog at GirlWithCurves.com, as well as more Shirtdress options. You can shop this look via links in the blog post or by simply clicking the link in my bio. I’m wearing a US 14 for reference and the booties are true to size. ❤️ #girlwithcurves #modestfashionista #curvygirlfashion #curvygirlstyle #mididresses #fridayoutfit #momstyleblogger

Lots of new followers around here, so wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. ☺️Hi, I’m Tanesha — blogger turned businesswoman, mama and proud curvy girl! . I started my blog, Girl With Curves in 2011 as a creative outlet outside my former career in the tech industry. Shortly after, I decided to put a mission behind it: to show women they can look and feel amazing at any size. . I’m a mom of three - a little boy named Narayan (who I call Nyan, 4 years old),a baby girl named Madina (whom I call Minnie, 1 yr old) and an English Bulldog named Kingston (whom I call Kingy, 7 years old). . I’m multi-racial American (mostly African and Caucasian descent) and my husband @daveawasthi is Indian, from New Delhi, India. My maiden last name is Ferguson, married name is Awasthi (pronounced Uh-was-tea). Dave and I run GWC together full-time — he handles photography, tech + ops, and I do the rest. . I’m the oldest of 6 — I have 4 little sisters and 1 brother. We all resemble, but have different skin tones and hair textures. . I live in the SF Bay Area — so I say “hella” a lot 😂 . I’m typically a size 12/14 on top and 16 on bottom, and I'm 5’10 with a size 12 foot. (And the sizes I’m wearing are always listed in the details section of each outfit post on the blog and in my captions here on IG). . My hair is naturally curly and I love my curls, however, I didn’t embrace them until I was 22, when I met a girl with hair similar to mine who loved her curls. She inspired me to love my own, so I stopped relaxing + straightening my hair and now I rarely go straight. . I have a degree in English from UC Berkeley (go Bears!) and I’m a licensed Esthetician. . I battled eating disorders in my teens, then excessive exercise, diet pills and calorie restricting in my 20’s. It wasn’t until I injured my knees so bad I could barely walk that I had a major wake-up call and learned to accept my body in its natural, curvy state. You can read more about my journey to self-love on my About Page on the blog (which I’ll link in my story!) . Now it’s your turn — where are you from and what do we have in common?! 🤗

Earlier today, twirling in my new boots. 🤗 As a girl who’s had size 12 feet since her teen years, it’s super difficult to find shoes that not only fit properly, but also look stylish and age-appropriate. I’ve been looking for a pair of knee high boots to fit my curvy calves for at least 10 years, and my search finally ended when I recently found these beauties! 😩🙌🏼 Wearing them today, I felt like a little girl who just got a new doll for Christmas!! 💯😂 Everything I’m wearing is linked in my bio, including the boots that are true to size + currently on sale. (And YES, I bought two pair so I have a back up in case something happens 🤣). #girlwithcurves #widecalfboots #curvygirlfashion #curvygirlstyle #modestfashionista #kneehighboots

For the first time in forever, I took some much needed time off over the holidays, completely unplugging from work and spend time with my family. Now that I’m back to work, feeling rested and rejuvenated both mentally and physically, I’m ready to hit the ground running in 2019 – but I only made one resolution this year. ☝🏼 It’s something that’s gotten increasingly out of control over the past few years, that I can no longer ignore, and I think most of you can relate! 🤗 I’m sharing it over on the blog today at GirlWithCurves.com. 💜 My outfit is linked in my bio — wearing a size 14 top and size 16 jeans from my #GWCxLB collection. #curvygirlfashion #curvygirlsstyle #modestfashionista #modestfashionblogger #girlwithcurves #curvyconfidence #tuesdayoutfit #classyoutfit

If I’m not writing, styling or shooting pics, I’m on Mom duty or doing something for someone other for myself. And while I juggle it all pretty well (cause we do what we have to do, right?!), it’s A LOT, and sometimes I just want to stay in my pajamas all day, curl up on the couch, eat my snack of choice (which is always chips n’ salsa, preferably from On the Border or El Toritos), and watch TV — so that’s exactly what I did today, and this is me smiling really hard because I needed this. 😌😁 Currently finishing up season 3 of Greenleaf, so I need a new show to watch, any suggestions?

#RealTalk: I’ve been thinking a lot about intentions for the new year, and while I’m always hesitant to share any type of negativity, I want to be honest with the hope that someone out there can relate, and stop feeling guilty the way I have lately... I need to be more than present. I’ve spent the past few years much too focused on the daily grind of work, stress, the worry of “what if,” and not enough on my family, myself, and just being present in the moment. It hit me like a ton of bricks over the past month, and it’s time to take action vs letting the guilt consume me. So this year I want to truly find balance in wearing my many daily hats as a mom, wife, entrepreneur, mentally unplug from work, make a real intention to handle stress better, and steer clear of whatever consumes me negatively, so I can truly enjoy the special moments with my family and take care of myself better, by being 100% present. So here’s my first pic of 2019, which captures the first time Narayan and I are heading out to spend some mother-son time together in a very long time, and I love how happy he is that he has me all to himself because I feel the exact same way. My heart is so full and my mind is so clear, heading into 2019! 🤗😍 Hope you’re all having a fab New Year.✌🏼❤️ #momandsongoals #momstyles #modestfashionista #curvygirlstyle #dressoverpants #curvygirlfashion #girlwithcurves #taneshaandnyan

Happy New Year’s Eve! It’s hard to believe an entire year has gone by, and what a year it’s been!! From personal moments with my kiddos (can’t believe Minnie is 1 and already loves playing dress-up in my closet! Check it out in my story🤗) Nyan starting preschool, my hubby going vegan (which had a huge impact on my own eating habits! 😱), to seeing you all rocking my #GWCxLB collection I worked so hard on, getting to work with some of my all-time favorite powerhouse brands, connecting with so many of you and much more, 2018 couldn’t have been better (and busier)! Before we jump into 2019 though, I wanted to continue with my yearly tradition of sharing the most popular outfits, so swipe for 2018’s top 10! Which one is your fave?! 😍 (PS - brands are tagged in the pics!) #curvygirlfashion #curvyoutfit #girlwithcurves #modestfashionista #classicstyles #curvyblogger #curvygirlstyle #taneshaawasthi
