My #10yearchallengecoincides with a significant moment in my life and career. In the fall of 2009 I was mending from a fully ruptured pectoral tendon- the result of 8 years of overzealous workouts and a heavy emphasis on bench press. In the wake of surgery and rehabilitation, I found myself reevaluating my priorities. I refused to let ambition blind me from unsustainable training habits. My newfound perspective lead me to pursue my first Personal Training certification, and eventually, my career in fitness. In a lot of ways, I think that injury was the best thing to ever happen to me. My time in the gym was no longer a superficial experience. Exercise became an opportunity to overcome obstacles, evaluate and understand movement, and help others treat a physical act as a therapeutic process.

I have to admit, this variation is tougher than I remember.😩 My form is well below standard here, but it happens. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Maybe it’s just an excuse, but getting to the gym 30 minutes before closing time didn’t help either . 😅 Guest appearance in the upper-right corner: @spartanrace@spartan... A secret to practical training: When in doubt, #kiss(Keep it Simple, Stupid). 😅 In my experience, people assume the complexity of a workout/exercise is a reflection of its effectiveness. Skip the bells, whistles, supersets, and machines for something straightforward. When putting together a workout from scratch, it’s good to remember “Less is more.” Opt for quality over quantity with every exercise, set and rep. Generally, avoid extreme’s in volume/intensity. Stick with fundamental and cornerstone exercises whenever possible. Speaking of KISS: Here’s a set from my workout today... 1 minute of unbroken #toestobar! 💪🏻
