So, this cup comes with a story. A few months ago, I had to travel to NYC for work, so I decided to fly in early and steal a few hours in the city before a photo shoot the next day. After I landed, I took a cab directly to the 2nd Avenue deli for a late lunch. I arrived at 1:30pm or so, and when I got there it was predictably crowded. The hostess invited me to sit at the bar and I asked her to check and see if there might be a table free. Nothing against the bar, but I’m fairly short and not a huge fan of sitting in seats that make my legs dangle. She took a few minutes to look, but no luck, so the bar it had to be.
As I got situated I noticed the couple next to me receiving their matzo ball soup and because I’ve never been shy about invading other people’s personal space with my opinions, I simply remarked "it's the best." The guy smiled in affirmation, and when I looked up from their delicious bowl of soup I realized the woman on the other side of this fella was none other than Georgia fucking @Hardstark. Now, I have been listening to the @myfavoritemurderpodcast for about 8 months, so I was a late blooming Murderino to be sure, but what are the fucking odds? I continued to make friendly chit chat asking if it was their first time at the 2nd Ave Deli, desperately trying to keep my calm and make sure it wasn't just someone that just looked like Georgia. But it was unmistakable. It was her. After maintaining my composure for about 5 seconds, I finally broke down and said “I’m sorry, I am such an enormous fan.” She and Vince both laughed and asked if I was in town for the live show. I told them I was only here for work and they immediately invited me to come. It was so fucking crazy. I mean, I basically got to have lunch Georgia & Vince and they were so nice, so gracious, just the loveliest human beings you can imagine. So, in short, this cup is long overdue. Thank you to Georgia, Karen, Steven & Vince for making the My Fav Murder podcast as amazing as it is.
Oh, and one last thing, sometimes sitting at the bar instead of getting a table for one and staring at your phone is a good thing. The world is an unendingly fascinating place when you let it be. #ssdgm
